Hello Property Professionals!
I noticed that there is confusion surrounding the CPD cycle of 2020.
I think most of you have heard rumors and received emails about the CPD payment being waived for 2020, but it seems most are uncertain about what this actually entails.
So, here is a clarification of it:
Firstly, CPD payment is waived for the year 2020. The reasoning behind it, is to save estate agents some money, given that the worldwide pandemic wreaked havoc on most people’s finances.
Estate agents who have already paid for their CPD for 2020, will have this money as a credit for their 2021 CPD fees.
Estate agents who have not paid for their 2020 CPD fees will not be penalized for non-payment. They will have to, however, pay for their 2021 CPD fees when it becomes due.
The crux of the matter that is a bit confusing, is that all estate agents still need to complete their CPD for 2020, whether they have paid or not.
The CPD for 2020 is not ‘active’ on the EAAB website as of yet, as they are experiencing some technical difficulties. We at Agent Aid will try our best to inform property practitioners when it does become active.
We suggest the following tips to ensure that estate agents are not caught off-guard when the CPD cycle for 2020 becomes available:
1. Plan your CPD ahead.
All estate agents who qualify to complete their CPD, must submit their PDP (Professional Development Plan) before they can upload and complete their CPD points. Log onto your profile and refer to the previous years’ PDP sections. Decide which ones you would like to do, and write it down.
2. Start with your training for your CPD points.
After the planning part, start doing training in the categories you have selected. Make sure that you are issued with a certificate for the said training. It is important to note that not all points are verifiable. Ensure that you know ahead of time if the training you are attending is verifiable or not. Most verifiable points can be completed via the online EAAB portal. Since it is not available at the moment, try and complete as much of the non-verifiable training as you can.
3. Save all your certificates.
Make sure you scan in and save all your CPD training certificates as you complete these trainings. This will make the task of uploading them easier, when the CPD cycle for 2020 becomes available.
With the right planning and some consideration, the confusion surrounding this year’s CPD can be set at ease!
